Rainwater catchment basin, proposed

The creation of rainwater basins  in every barangay was proposed by an environmental expert. Antonio Oposa, a Ramon Magsaysay awardee, proposed in a congressional hearing that the people should use common sense to solve the flood problem in Metro Manila by establishing rainwater catchment ponds.  They call it “sahod ulan” project and it would harness available vacant areas that the residents in the low lying areas should excavate.

Oposa said the sahod ulan project could make Filipinos in every barangay more resilient to prevent floods.  He also added that the project he is proposing will not require a huge fund to be implemented.-(Philstar)
