Ken Luis Tobe Takes Oath as PH Honorary Consul in Sapporo City

Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V administered the oath taking of Ken Luis Tobe as Consul ad honorem of the Republic of the Philippines in Sapporo City, Japan. The oath taking ceremony was held at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo last May 15 and witnessed by Eduardo M.R. Meñez, Deputy Chief of Mission, Robespierre L. Bolivar, Minister & Consul-General and Leah Victoria C. Rodriguez, First Secretary & Consul.

Tobe succeeded his father who has served as Consul ad honorem, for 25 years until his retirement on July 3, 2017. The Consulate of the Philippines in Sapporo City, with consular jurisdiction over Hokkaido Prefecture, opened in 1992 and has since been represented by honorary consular officers.

He speaks Nihongo, English and Spanish, has an MBA at INSEAD and fine arts degree at Parsons School Design in Paris. He has previously worked for the Italian luxury brand Gucci Group as corporate image director, for media company Condé-Nast Ltd. as chief designer and eventually as associate art director, and for international publishing company Filipacchi Presse SA as associate art director. Tobe is currently the President of Nippon Food Manufacturer based in Sapporo City.
