“FREE” Japanese Language Classes for Work

In Japan, the workforce is declining as a result of the ageing and dwindling of the population, and this situation is creating a serious labor shortage, such that the need to employ foreign workers is rapidly growing as a new measure for securing human resources. Amid this situation, the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) has been commissioned by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to implement the Training Course for Promoting Stable Employment of Foreign Residents. The course is intended for foreign residents who possess a visa appropriate to their status (“Permanent Resident,” “Spouse or Child of Japanese National,” “Spouse or Child of Permanent Resident,” or “Long Term Resident” visa) and foreign students who plan to find employment at a Japanese company, and aims to promote their stable employment and retention in a company in Japan through their acquisition of workplace communication skills, including Japanese language skills, and knowledge related to working in Japan.

Target Participants

This program targets those of foreign residents who have difficulties in finding stable employment due to insufficient knowledge and necessary skills for employment, including Japanese communication skills, even though they are actively engaged in job-hunting activities with high level of motivation.
