Shinki: Specialized store for roasted pork

Lechon is one of the most popular dishes in the Philippines with Cebu being acknowledged by celebrity TV chef Anthony Bourdain as having the best pig. It is a dish featuring a whole seasoned slow-roasted pig cooked over charcoal and is almost always present during special occasions like town fiesta, birthday, wedding, anniversary, Christmas and New Year.

The word “lechon” originated from the Spanish term “lechon,” which refers to a suckling pig that is roasted. It is famous dish not only in the Philippines but also in other countries like Spain, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, North Sulawesi province of Indonesia and other Spanish-speaking nations in Latin America.

But do you know that there is a place in Japan where you can order lechon?

Eiro Kuroshima, the owner of Shinki, a store that specializes in roasted pork, started running the business about 10 years ago together with his wife. Both of them were born in Okinawa. His parents opened the store more than 40 years ago, which was the first lechon store in Japan.

So if you’re celebrating a special occasion, make it more memorable by ordering crispy lechon from SHINKI.

1. Healthy roasted – 84,000 yen

This is highly recommended to women. They roast a whole pig for 3 to 5 hours and cut the skin slightly to remove 10 kg of oil. That also makes the skin crispier.

2. Variety roasted – 56,000 yen

This is good for a small party, 10 to 15 people. They cut it half with head.

3. Pretty roasted – 56,000 yen

This is also good for a small party. They cut it half with tale. This part does not contain much fat so it should be great for those who like lean meat and do not want to see its head.

4. Quarter roasted – 18,500 yen

This is half-sized of Pretty roasted, which is good for a family.
