Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord in Las Pinas now a Pilgrim Church

Pope Benedict XVI has declared the Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord at the Manila Times Village in Las Piñas City as a Pilgrim Church in commemoration of its Silver Jubilee from April 25, 2011 to April 25, 2012.

The celebration commenced with the opening of the Holy Door last Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011. The Pope, through a decree issued by the Apostolic Penitentiary on February 15, 2011, granted to the Most Rev. Jesse E. Mercado, Bishop of Parañaque, the faculty to solemnly open the Holy Door on April 25, 2011 and solemnly close it at the end of the Silver Jubilee on April 25, this year.

Parishioners and visitors who pass through the parish’s Holy Door going inside the Pilgrim Church will gain plenary indulgence under the usual condition (sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer for the intention of the Supreme Pontiff).

Preparations for this meaningful one-year season of grace with the theme “Dalawampu’t Limang Taong Pag-Ibig sa Eukaristiya” was made as early as three years ago through the initiative of the former parish priest, Rev. Fr. Augusto C. Pulido.

Rev. Fr. Rodyn dela Torre, who succeeded Fr. Pulido as parish priest, will continue to lead the jubilee celebration with the liturgical and non-liturgical activities. A major highlight of this joyous event is the singing of the Jubilee Song and parish Hymn in masses and other major occasions.
