Affidavit

QUESTION

Hello I’m Loranne, a Filipina. I live in Asahi-ku, Yokohama. I have a question. If I have an affidavit and needs to be signed by an attorney (to sworn of affidavit of support for honest marriage because my husband plans to file me a petition for use), can you do it for me?

ANSWER

I hope you can understand that a lawyer in Japan does not have the capability, ability or authority to carry out the notarization and authentication of the document same as that in the Philippines. Therefore, your case is necessary to carry out the notarization first at the Notary Public Office (Abbreviation: NPO) located in Tokyo, Kanagawa or Osaka. Subsequently, you must submit the notarized documents by the NPO to the Philippine Embassy or Consulate General in Japan in order to get the authentication by a consul or vice consul in charge. After you would have been authenticated it by a consul or vice consul in charge, the authentication certificate with red ribbon would be delivered from the consul/vice consul in charge. Then, you can send it to the Philippines.
