9 Filipino Graduates in Japan Honored at ‘Paghayo sa Tagsibol 2018’

The Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ) organized “Paghayo sa Tagsibol,” a recognition ceremony for Filipino students who graduated from different universities in Japan. Nine graduates were honored in this occasion namely: Allan Arciaga Devanadera (The University of Tokyo), Hilbert Magpantay (The University of Tokyo), West Kristian Dizon Paraiso (Hokkaido University), Jerome de Leon (The University of Tokyo), Josh Elisha Roque Octura (The University of Tokyo), Bryan V. Apacionado (Tokyo University of Agriculture), Rachael Uson Lopez (Hokkaido University), Erica Paula S. Sioson (The University of Tokyo) and Anie Day Asa (Tokyo Institute of Technology).

Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V graced the ceremony and conveyed his congratulations and support to the students for their outstanding achievement.

Yuichi Sekiya of the University of Tokyo and a professor of one of the graduates delivered his message expressing his gratitude to be part of this important occasion.

The Graduates’ Response was delivered by West Kristian Dizon Paraiso from Hokkaido University who shared his journey of how taking risks led him to accomplishing his PhD.

The ceremony ended with short remarks by the AFSJ President Mr. Jerome de Leon, who is also one of the graduates. He hoped for continued support from the Embassy in holding the tradition of recognizing Filipino students graduating in Japanese Universities.
